| resumo: | In this presentation I will offer a few examples of a comparative study about proverbs of the first part of Don Quixote de la Mancha. I will compare the selected units with the Finnish translation and see if the translation can be found in the M6 database and in which category. In order to obtain a better overview of the proverbs used in the translation, I will also include the English translation to see if it coincides with the Spanish and Finnish ones. However, there are a few difficulties in this study. One is to make the correct and coherent limitation or selection between all different proverb types and sayings, another one is the unit itself: in many cases one can be led astray by summing up the words when the meaning of the unit is not known well enough. |
